Sad news for the CPSI community In memory of Jim Denyes

Jim was a long time practitioner of Tai Chi. We had a great session with him last June in Atlanta. Thank you, Jim, for all you share with us. Thank you, Pam, for sharing Jim with us for many years.

Jim Denyes at CPSI 2011

March 23, 2012

Dear CEF Friends and Supporters,

It is with deep sadness that I share that our dear friend and long-time CPSI leader, Jim Denyes, died on Monday after a long battle with brain cancer.

I have had the privilege of knowing Jim since I came to CPSI in the mid-1980's and to leading with and learning from him through the years.  During the past few years Jim has led the CPSI Program Team and shared his expertise and gentle leadership to help CPSI operate well.  Jim always brought both his engineer's skillful eye and his deep passions to his contributions.  I can shut my eyes and hear Jim's voice and his infectious laugh.  I am sure that many of you have also had your lives touched in meaningful ways by Jim.

CEF Director of Programs & Operations, Pim Vossen stated it very well when he wrote:

I've always seen Jim as the silent force behind CPSI; he was never in the spotlight, but was absolutely critical to our conference... He was an expert on conference management and tackled every problem which such elegance and calmness - something I always admired. He will be truly missed.

Jim's obituary was published on March 21 in the Virginian-Pilot. Additionally, it is now available at the funeral home's website.

Jim's wife Pam can be reached at:

A Celebration of Jim's life is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7th at Unity Renaissance Church at 1120 Eden Way North, Chesapeake, VA.

May we each take time to remember our friend and colleague with joy and thanks and keep Jim's zest for life and vision for CEF alive through our own actions.

With deep appreciation for a life well lived,

Time Flies with Wifi Southwest Flight

Southwest gets it. Customers first.

Not only did they try their best to entertain the passengers with jokes, songs and dance, now they allow the passengers to entertain ourselves!!! What a concept.

With wifi on board, there is no boring flights. Time "flies." A perfect solution for techies, even for those just need to catch up emails. We choose our own TED Talks to watch. Some play silly games. Only for $5 during my entire flight to Seattle/Tacoma. I have to get this out to the universe.

Send from iPad2, on flight Southwest.
