Twitter Gets Posterous

Twitter gets Posterous -- Simple easy posting. That's why we all love Posterous.

Twitter is part of the new social organizations. They would never follow the old school way of doing things. They would never dream of being the big fish eating up the small fish concept. They would never buy to block. Evan Williams pays attention to the momentum, per his TEDTalk.

Twitter, most likely will do what Phil Libin at Evernote did with Skitch. Align the like minds to enhance the organization.

Twitter is smart enough to let Posterous do what they do best. After all, Twitter gets what people twit about.

Let's just twit about #Posterous.

TEDxIIT 2012 Delivered Gaining Momentum

TEDxIIT did it.

What an awesome event on Sat, April 13, 2012. Amazing speakers shared ideas worth spreading. Devoted committee chairs demonstrated great leadership skills. Generous volunteers helped whatever it took. The fabulous live audience applauded with standing ovation, along with the virtual audience worldwide cheered all the way. And the social media fans twitted and re-twitted #TEDxIIT.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

In the spirit of TED and IIT, many voices, one conversation. We played, laughed, learned, shared and connected.

The speakers were: Tanya Cabera (staff), Marc Hans (alum), Muhammed Fazeel (student at large), Leo Xiangyu Liu (student), Joseph Claie (alum), Nityananda Pran Das, (community member), Daniya Kamran, (student), James H. Stone (faculty), Debbie Vyskocil (alum), Onye Ozuzu (guest-lecturer) and Tom Tresser (faculty). The spectrum ranged from young students to seasoned business leader, all with ideas to share. More on TEDxIIT.com.

They bought us with diverse experience and ethnic background. Same demographic applied to the attendees: students, alumni, members of faculty, staff and community. There were ideas for our mind, body and soul. Issues covering the immigration, education, innovation, creativity, energy and community.

Their ideas are gaining momentum.

TEDxIIT is also gaining momentum.

Jim Denyes at CPSI 2011

March 23, 2012

Dear CEF Friends and Supporters,

It is with deep sadness that I share that our dear friend and long-time CPSI leader, Jim Denyes, died on Monday after a long battle with brain cancer.

I have had the privilege of knowing Jim since I came to CPSI in the mid-1980's and to leading with and learning from him through the years.  During the past few years Jim has led the CPSI Program Team and shared his expertise and gentle leadership to help CPSI operate well.  Jim always brought both his engineer's skillful eye and his deep passions to his contributions.  I can shut my eyes and hear Jim's voice and his infectious laugh.  I am sure that many of you have also had your lives touched in meaningful ways by Jim.

CEF Director of Programs & Operations, Pim Vossen stated it very well when he wrote:

I've always seen Jim as the silent force behind CPSI; he was never in the spotlight, but was absolutely critical to our conference... He was an expert on conference management and tackled every problem which such elegance and calmness - something I always admired. He will be truly missed.

Jim's obituary was published on March 21 in the Virginian-Pilot. Additionally, it is now available at the funeral home's website.

Jim's wife Pam can be reached at:

3068 Torrington Trail

Williamsburg, VA 23188-2004

 pbdenyes@cox.net

A Celebration of Jim's life is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 7th at Unity Renaissance Church at 1120 Eden Way North, Chesapeake, VA.

May we each take time to remember our friend and colleague with joy and thanks and keep Jim's zest for life and vision for CEF alive through our own actions.

With deep appreciation for a life well lived,

Kitty Heusner

Time Flies with Wifi Southwest Flight

Southwest gets it. Customers first.

Not only did they try their best to entertain the passengers with jokes, songs and dance, now they allow the passengers to entertain ourselves!!! What a concept.

With wifi on board, there is no boring flights. Time "flies." A perfect solution for techies, even for those just need to catch up emails. We choose our own TED Talks to watch. Some play silly games. Only for $5 during my entire flight to Seattle/Tacoma. I have to get this out to the universe.

Send from iPad2, on flight Southwest.

Do you know anyone who has an appreciation for creativity, an appetite for innovative ideas and/or has a link with IIT, Illinois Institut of Technology?

If so, please be a kind person. Forward this to that person.

TED & TEDx

TED.com has become a global phenomenon to showcase Ideas Worth Sharing. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. TEDx is an independently event curated by the approved licensee, following the guidelines and spirit of TED. All TED and TEDx speakers are by invitations only.

TEDxIIT

As an IIT Alumna and a TEDx speaker, I am the founder and champion of TEDxIIT since 2009. Due to the recent turn over of the student leadership, I have stepped in as a co-organizer, working with a new group of smart, dynamic and energetic students.

This is a student organization hosting a world class TED like event for the IIT community for the global platform. Anyone, anywhere, any time zone, in the world with wifi connection, will be able to view the event on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Global Event on April 14, 2012

The event is free. For 2012, only 100 TEDx seats will be available at the auditorium. You will have to apply for that seat, just like at the real TED conference. If you cannot physically be on the main campus to witness the amazing atmosphere, you can watch it on line. This will be live streaming globally with a permanent digital footprint thru the TED.com website. Last year, the inaugural TEDxIIT 2011 was a great success.

Your Journey Creatively

The upcoming Journey this April will be a different kind of journey.

My friend, Bill and Whitney are organizing a retreat. They call it "The Journey."

Its a learning retreat focused on Creativity (creative thinking, creative problem solving, etc.) as well as on Spirituality (spiritual awareness, self-discovery, energy, etc.)  There will be great presenters with authors, entertainers, Grammy-nominated / CMA winners, plus experts in fields of creative thinking, the arts, movement, energy work, meditation, feng shui, shamanism and more.   It provides a space and time, just to explore, discover, share, learn, laugh, and maybe cry, and then to realize and leverage your power within. It’s your Journey.

So, why the Journey?  Because BOTH creativity and spirituality come from within.  The Journey brings resources together into a professional and personal development program.

It will be held near Portland Oregon, April 20-22 at a beautiful, natural retreat center, and the cost is surprisingly affordable.  The main event is Friday – Sunday, but with pre-retreat workshops and post-retreat options, you could be there from Wednesday, April 18 through Monday April 23.

You can reserve your spot for just $111.  The fees cover lodging, all meals, and the retreat activities.   If you come to the entire thing from April 18-22 its $665.  Or just come for the weekend.  Either way, conference, lodging & meals are less than $168/night.

http://www.JourneyCreatively.com   Check out the list of presenters, the photos of the Cedar Ridge Retreat Center, and more.  And when you register, please tell them Amy invited you!  Early bird rate for a 10% discount only lasts another week.

Creativity.  Spirituality.  It’s your Journey . . .

So, please share!
